Pet damage in carpet, upholstery, and floors
Vapura treats pet damage at three layers: the carpet fiber, the pad beneath it, and the subfloor below that. Fiber-only cleaning is a surface reset and rarely holds when urine has soaked through, so at pre-inspection we identify how deep each spot has traveled and price the correct scope from the start. Most homes need a mix of fiber extraction and pad-level odor neutralization; a smaller number need a subfloor step where we lift the affected carpet section, treat the subfloor directly, and re-lay. Cleaning solutions are matched to the fiber and to any pet sensitivities you flag at booking.
The three layers, and what each one does
Every pet spot lives somewhere in one of these three layers. The right treatment depends on how far the accident has traveled, not on how bad the surface looks.
- Layer 1 — Fiber. Hot-water extraction lifts most water-soluble residue from the carpet face. This alone is enough for recent, shallow accidents.
- Layer 2 — Pad. An odor neutralizer is injected through the carpet into the pad below. Required when urine has soaked past the fiber or when odor returns as the carpet dries.
- Layer 3 — Subfloor. The affected carpet section is lifted, the subfloor is treated directly, and the carpet is re-laid. Required for older or repeated accidents where the subfloor is the odor source.
What we handle at pre-inspection
Before we start, the technician walks each spot with you and calls out which layers it has reached, what will fully lift, and what will lighten. You approve the scope before the extraction pass begins. If a spot needs subfloor work, we scope it separately so you can decide whether to schedule that step the same day or in a follow-up visit.
Pets in the home during service
Keep pets in a separate area from the room being cleaned until the carpet is dry to the touch. If a pet has specific sensitivities, tell us at booking so the technician can pick the appropriate solution.
